Malcolm Gladwell: Outliers: The Story of Success
I thought that this was a very interesting text about what really drives success. It definitely caused me to think about my own chances for success and to what extent I have set up my daughter for success. It was an easy read (listen) and kept my attention throughout. Good story with enough empirical evidence to support the conclusions. (****)
Martin Lindstrom: Buyology: Truth and Lies About Why We Buy
This was definitely an eye opener. It changed the way I look at my purchase decisions and those of my customers. I would recommend it for any person with a customer facing job role.
Richard Whiteley: Customer-centered Growth: Five Proven Strategies For Building Competitive Advantage
A good view into what companies are doing to gain and maintain growth through focus on the customer. It gave me good ideas to use in my own practice. (***)
Jerry Porras: Success Built to Last: Creating a Life that Matters
A great book that had me thinking about what was important to me and what I wanted to be when I grow up. With the same analytical approach taken in the books, Built to Last and Good to Great, the authors distill the essence of success and what makes a person successful. I thought it was a great read for 30-40 something looking for the next rung. (****)
Mel Levine: A Mind at a Time
This book helped me to see people differently. While it may seem somewhat clinical at times, it is still a very interesting read for anyone who has ever been challenged with dealing with the thoughts and emotions of others.
Michael Useem: Leading Up: How to Lead Your Boss So You Both Win
Truly one of the best books I have read on the subject of leadership and its long term, often permanent implications. (****)
Larry Bossidy: Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done
A great book on what it takes to drive business results. (****)
